Why guest blog?

Writing content on this blog is enjoyable for me. However, it doesn’t stop there, I also like to write on other people’s blogs. Last month I written three blog posts for other fellow bloggers. Appearing on other’s blogs was enjoyable. I like to see other readers benefit from my content.
Why is guest blogging a wise move?
1.Build your reputation – If you are new to blogging or starting to gain traffic guest posting is a good way build credit about your blog. A reputation takes time to form, but by developing a guest post you are marketing your blog whilst writing content for another blogger.
2.Gain a backlink or two – Writing content for another blog is a good way to gain a backlink. However, it may seen as a lengthy approach to gain a backlink, but in the long term you will be building a good relationship with your fellow blogger.
If you guest post on other blogs with high PR this is an excellent way to achieve a quality backlink. Remember, that Google loves one-way backlinks located inside the content.
3.Gain new readers – Create an exciting, useful guest blog post and you may gain some new readers to your blog. Depending on the readership of the blog you post on, this maybe a great way to increase RSS subscribers, e-mail subscribers and fans to your blog.
4.Write something different – I recently wrote an article for the Home Based Business Blog about 13 Reasons you should start a new online business. I am so frustrated about being an employee, that I thought that this post would benefit another blog. Plus the blog post helped another blogger.
From a marketing and SEO point guest posting is smart. Writing on other’s blogs provide a sense of good-will and achievement. It is not always about “me,me,me” all the time. Be a giver in life and you will receive more back. Blogging should be about: networking, creativity, enjoyment, helping others, serving a community and helping other communities.
Want to guest post?
Guest posting is easy, all you have to do is write an e-mail to a desired blogger. But first, comment on their blog. Send the blogger an email that you enjoy their content and ask them if you can appear as a guest blogger.
Chances are they will say yes, because it is free content for them and for you it is a backlink. It is a win-win situation.
