To be a successful blogger, we need to learn SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). There are many great benefits for learning SEO, when your web page ranks in the top 10 for your given keywords, you will get more traffic to your site. Plus all this traffic is free.
In this blog post, I will share with you some simple SEO tips that will increase the number of visits to your site or blog via the search engines. Most websites and blogs are found through the search engines.
Simple SEO tips
SEO Tip 1 - Keyword rich title tags
Review your title tags on all your blog posts. Can you improve your search engine ranking with your title tag? You bet you can. Go into Google and review your current title tags and see if you can improve on your search engine ranking. You should aim to get your blog posts on the first page of Google. Make your title tag unique on every page.
Sometimes all you need is a little bit of tweaking to increase your search engine ranking.
SEO Tip 2 - Use H1, H2, H3 tags
Go through your blog posts and make sure you have applied the heading tags, make sure you use keywords in your heading tags. The H1 tag holds a lot of weight for the search engines, but make your use the H2 and H3 tags also. As you go through your blog post see where you can add some headings and improve your current blog post.
SEO Tip 3 - Internal links
Many times we are so focused on getting external links to our site or blog. However, we can gain links on our own pages just by linking to internal pages. This is a simple process that can increase your Google Page Rank, this method helps your readers plus internal linking aids the search engine robots.
You can place related posts on the end of each blog post, this will give more information for the reader.
SEO Tip 4 - Internal links in your content
Apply some internal links inside your web content. This is a very powerful factor for linking inside the content. According to the search engines relevant links within content ranks higher in the order of importance. Apply deep links into your blog content, this will allow the spiders to crawl deeper throughout your blog or website.
SEO Tip 5 - Smart anchor text
Use keywords in your anchor text, there are many examples of poorly created hyperlinks the best example has to be "click here", these are wasted hyperlinks. Good quality anchor text can increase your search engine ranking for your desired keyword.
SEO Tip 6 - Improve your description tags
The description tag is what the search engine users will use to decide if your web page is relevant for them. Include the keywords into your description tag. Make your description unique on every page.
SEO Tip 7 - Optimise your images
Use keywords in your ALT tags for your images. The search engines can not read images but they can read the ALT tags.
SEO Tip 8 - Sitemap
Place a sitemap on your blog this will allow search engines to crawl your content. Make your blog easy to navigate for the reader and the search engines.
SEO Tip 9 - Write fresh content on a regular basis
Aim to write new content often so that Google will visit your site frequently. Google loves new content.
SEO Tip 10 - Long tail keywords
Focus on long term keywords these are phrases an example instead of ranking for web design where there is too much competition try a more defined search term. So if you are a web designer in Lincolnshire the key phrase Web design Lincolnshire would be better. It is more likely people will find you for a more defined search.
SEO Tip 11 - Comment on blogs.
An extra way to gain backlinks is to comment on blogs. However, make sure you use smart anchor text. Refer to SEO tip 5.

Internal links is often over looked, but by applying internal links to your own site you can easily rank higher in the search engines.

Like you’ve said before it is about getting people to notice your product. You need a market.
Google has the market getting on the first page of google is like having a shop on a busy high street.
Linking by using “click here” is a big one. I have been guilty of this. Be sure to use descriptive words when linking instead of the click here.
