As a web designer, it is important to gain some feedback from other professionals in my field. If you work in a team, you can ask other members their opinion. However, if you are looking for some recognition for your efforts as well. I’d suggest submitting your website to a forum for some free critique. I’ve used a couple of web design forums, but the best forum I’ve found for website design critique is Sitepoint.

Sitepoint is one of the top industries for web design and programming training books around. The Sitepoint community is massive, currently Sitepoint has over 289,000 forum members, making Sitepoint one of the largest communities of online web professionals.

Recently, I placed the Go Grand Bornand website on the Sitepoint critique forum. I was amazed by the in-depth critiques written by other members. Don’t forget that the Sitepoint community has a majority of professional members, therefore, you will getting good solid critique.

Tips for a good feedback on your website review:

  1. Make changes suggested to your site if you feel they are necessary.
  2. Continue to keep the forum post going by responding to positive feedback.
  3. Thank people for their comments. Remember they are helping you.
  4. Don’t get upset with negative feedback. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  5. Learn from other forum members.
  6. Make sure you give your advice to other people in the forum.

Being a member of a successful forum can help you to learn and grow. If people see you as a good advisor on the forums this will assist you as you build rapport and network with other professionals. Make sure that you leave a signature to your own website. Others in the forum community will be likely to review your own website.
