Don’t optimise your blog for your domain name
Optimise your blog correctly
Often I see many blogs and websites are optimised for their domain name. However, this is not a wise move.
Reasons not to optimise for your domain name
- Your domain is unique
- If somebody types your domain into the search engine you will rank number one anyway
- The domain name will located in your blog
- This will only focus on targeting keywords for your domain and not your products
- It will lower your chances on first page Google results
How to optimise your blog
In order, for your blog to be successful, focus on the key words for the content or products that you have on your blog.
Lets use atmmultimedia for this example. Nobody knows atmmultimedia as a brand like Facebook, so it is unlikely people will type atmmultimedia, to find out about web design. It is more likely they will type some related on web design, such as: web designer UK, web design UK or professional web designer.
With that in mind, use keywords in your HTML and place keywords in the following areas.
- In the title tag
- In heading tags (H1-H6)
- In your ALT text
- In your hyperlinks
- In your meta tags
- In your content
Make sure that you use SEO to your advantage. Google looks for relevancy. The search engine has no hidden agenda. Make your website as relevant as possible.
How does Google see your site?
There was a blog post, I done about Google Cache. The search engine will only see your site as HTML. Bear in mind that the search engine is looking for relevancy for all the web searchers. If you blog is about snowboarding generate great content related to snowboarding.
Can you use any of techniques discussed to improve your own blog?

Great post!!
Another way to get your website to be in Google is to submit your sitemap to google as directly submiting is wrong and submiting this way is better..
Or submissions to the best directories or high PR article sites can get you indexed in Google!!

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your comment. This is a simple technique, that many forget, including web designers. Duplicate title tags are another.
