When building a website you must take into consideration your web users. There is a vast majority of web browsers out there. At this time, FireFox and Internet Explorer are the two most popular. However, try to test your website on many browsers as possible.
Personally, I always make sure that my website work on Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox. Although, Internet Explorer 6 can be a nightmare, there are still many web users on this platform.
You may have the latest version of Internet Explorer on your machine, however you really need to ensure your website is compatible on many browsers as possible. Unfortunately, a web designer can not just build for one browser otherwise you are alienating a chunk of your target audience.
