Blogs are awesome for joining and continuing a conversation. The power of commenting allows a blog to carry on discussing the post after being published. If you are a webmaster and are well informed on a certain subject, throw your two cents in. Remember that commenting on a successful blog can be a win-win situation. Both parties win!

A blog that has good content, will generally have some comments on there. Instead of saying: “Nice post, thanks”. Contribute to the blog post, expand upon the information. A blog owner will be thrilled that you’ve made the effort to the write on their blog, plus giving some excellent feedback.

How do you benefit from giving excellent comments?
If you have submitted a great comment, it is likely that you will gain some traffic to your website. Just for leaving some interesting comments. Make sure you comment on relevant web posts, plus make sure that your advice is relevant and it is useful to other readers. Make sure that you add some value to the comments, otherwise your efforts will be wasted.

Gain a back link to your website
On some blogs, you can gain a back link for a comment. In order, to make sure you get a back link check the site doesn’t contain the “nofollow” tag in the source code. The aim for commenting on a blog is to gain some back links plus traffic on our website.

I shouldn’t let a “nofollow” tag discourage you, as you could get some traffic to your website. Just must sure that your website has some valuable content that can be bookmarked.

Write rich anchor text
When creating a hyperlink make sure that you use keywors or key phrases that are relevant to your website. An example if I wanted to rank highly for the key phrase “SEO Specialist”.

My hyperlink would look like this: SEO Specialist.

Vary your anchor text
When creating keyword rich hyperlinks, make sure that you vary your anchor text. Search engines will notice if you use the same keyword in your hyperlinks. The search engines are looking for natural links.

Create hyperlinks over time
Building links to your website takes time. Spend about two or three hours per week creating links. Google doesn’t like websites gaining a vast amount of links in a very short space of time. Please be careful.

To summarise here are some pointers:

  1. Offer some fresh unique content ideally on high traffic blogs
  2. Make sure your website reflects the blog you are commenting on
  3. Include some keyword rich anchor text
  4. Do not spam
