Blog maintenance tips
Optimise your blog
Having a blog can improve your writing skills, design skills and SEO skills. However, a successful blog needs maintenance. An example of maintenance I quit the gym because I was bored. The result of leaving the gym I have gained a stone. This is due to lack of exercise and spending 9 months of my life on my backside in front of a computer screen.
Point being is that if you neglect a process like maintaining a blog it begins to fade away. I am in the process of exercising again, but I’ll get into the habit of it for several weeks then stop. Again with blogging this needs to consistent. If you enjoy blogging it won’t be a problem.
I’ve started to learn Jujitsu as it is an activity that will improve my fitness. So maintaining a balanced lifestyle is important. These two paragraphs have been talking about maintenance on a variety of levels.
How to optimise your blog
Optimise previous blog posts
Go back to your previous blog posts and review them. Go into Google and see where some of your blog posts position in the search engine rankings. Review the following:
- How well do you rank for keywords on blog posts?
- Can you improve content to increase the current search engine ranking?
- Does the title tag contain keywords?
- Does the H1 tag contain keywords?
- Does the H2 tag contain keywords?
- Does H3, H4, H5 and H6 tag contain keywords?
- Have you used ALT tags wisely?
- Have you used the bold tag?
- Have your applied any relevant internal links to your blog posts?
- Have you commented on related blogs to build some relevant back links?
- Do you know any bloggers that would create some link exchanges?
- Do you know any bloggers that could offer you some one way links?
- Have you submitted your blog posts on social media sites?
- Have you used any photographs to improve your blog visually?
These are some of the questions that every blogger should ask themselves. You may have lots of content on your blog, but it would be wise to revisit and optimise your previous work. Blog optimisation is a great method of injecting some new life into your old blog posts.
Spend some time making your blog user friendly as possible. Your blog readers will appreciate this plus they will likely revisit your blog.
