Blog interview with Marketing-Business-Review.com
Please introduce yourself to our readers. How long you been blogging? What are your hopes and dreams? Where you’re from? What is the purpose of Marketing-Business-Review.com?
My name is Luis Torres and I am the webmaster of www.Marketing-Business-Review.com, I started blogging on June 2008 not knowing much about blogs, even that I were online since September 2006 building a downline in a Network Marketing Business and started learning how to do it.
I did not knew anything about how to generate traffic (maybe that is why I am somewhat obsessed with traffic techniques), SEO, list building, etc. Now, that is exactly what I am writing about, after learning and implementing every single technique I could found online to improve my blog´s visibility.
Basically, I’ll do this for my little son Brad, I want to stay at home and see him becoming a grown up boy and my long to medium goal reach my financial freedom.
My real life change was thanks to Robert Kiyosaki, I just had (I still have some) credit card debt and a fulltime job that I just recently lost it in April 2nd, but it seems this was for good, at least now I feel less stress and have a lot more time to do my online business.
My mind was set to be Employee only, since all of my relatives including my Mom and Dad are employees. That’s why I felt related to the story of Kiyosaki. By the way, they are now both Teachers, pretty similar to Robert’s story, except for the Rich Dad that I haven’t found a mentor. My only mentor it is the “Net”.
I am from Monterrey that is a city in the north of Mexico with a population of 4 million people. Monterrey is one of the wealthiest cities in Latin America, there are a lot of very rich businessmen, well, maybe I will be one of them soon but with online businesses, lol.
Monterrey is very close from the US border about 125 miles from McAllen Texas, a little town, where half of the Monterrey citizens go shopping.
Do you have any ways of generating traffic that you use on a frequent basis?
Right now I use a lot Social sites, like Twitter, BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog and the one that I like it the most not that it gives me more traffic but it is the most rewarding, “Commenting” in other blogs. Must of my strategies are made to increase my search engine traffic.
What is your biggest challenge as a blogger?
I guess it is to place my keywords on the first page of the SERPS (search engine ranking position). Like Make Money Online, but this one has a lot of competition, but I will place my other keywords and continue to push this keyword until I get it. Well it seems my main challenge it is traffic, since there is not such a thing as “enough” traffic, the more the better. Even Google with love to have the double or at least 20 or 30 % more traffic.
If I gave you $500 to invest in your blog what would you do with it?
Outsource SEO and someone to write for me that leaves me enough time to do the marketing like socialize with everyone in the net.
What is the biggest lesson that blogging has taught you?
That the online world is “huge” but at the same time it is very “small”. Like right now, you are from the UK and you are making an interview to me that I am in Monterrey that is at the other extreme of the ocean. I also found the Blogosphere is like a Big Giant Family; there is always support you can found from another fellow Blogger.
What top tip would you give to current bloggers?
It should be the best tip I ever get from a truly Icon in Business Donald Trump: “Never, Never, Ever Give Up”. The only thing that can stop us to reach out success it is ourselves; do not listen to yourself if you are giving it up. In this online world you will need to continue working hard even if you think it is not worth it. Even if you do not reach your goal yet, you will grow with all the effort put into your business. Learn everything you can, there is not such thing as small learning.
What is your ultimate goal for your blog?
My goal it is making enough money online and master all the techniques and invent some others to be able to teach all the new bloggers in this journey how to make money online and be their own boss. I would love to have that help when I was a beginner, that´s for sure.
Do you use social media to promote your blog? If so how do you promote your blog through social media?
Yes, I use them a lot. I make friends on the social places and then I just send them messages when I have an update and of course if they comment in my blog I try to comment in theirs. This must be a mutual help. We all are growing together.
How effective has e-mail marketing been on your blog? Are there any strategies that have worked for you?
Right now I am not using too much e-mail marketing, I am continuing to growing my list. They receive the free software or e-books with information they can use to succeed online faster. when they signup in the newsletter, but the emails they got are more like the blog updates.
The best strategies were the ones a lot of people said they hate but I had more signups with “Pop-Ups” or Lightboxes and the like. Even Pro bloggers like John Chow and Jeremy Shoemaker are using them. But I am also using Entrecard that is a traffic exchange site and they prohibit having them in place. Right now I am only reminding them in the posts and they may subscribe or subscribe to their feed first and telling them, and then they may return the favor.
If you could give one piece of advice for new bloggers, what would it be?
If you are coming into blogging believing this is a “get rich quick scheme” then don’t. Do not believe anyone that tells you that you do not have to work hard. Actually this is the only way, anything else could be just another “scam” , beware of this people; they “DO” make money with people that are unaware and are looking not to work hard.
Thank you for your time. I am grateful that you’ve taken time to conduct this blog interview. Fancy a copy of Rich Dad Poor Dad? This is the prize for the top commentator on the atmmultimedia blog.

Another great interview, thanks James and Luis!
Again I have to agree and reinforce the idea that blogging is a business and there’s a lot of work involved with it, now it may be more pleasant than a lot of other types of work, but it’s work nonetheless!
