Link baiting is where you generate some useful content on your blog (this is your bait) in order to gain backlinks. Think of link baiting as fishing. In essence we are baiting our resources for an exchange of links.

The better of bait, the better links that we should receive. Link baiting is an art. It is about knowing what our target audience wants and then marketing our content.

1. Giveaway
Create a giveaway to increase your backlinks, but make sure the prize is worthwhile. It could an iPod, an iPhone, money or something that your target audience could find useful. Although these methods may require an investment, but if done correctly you could increase your traffic and search engine rankings dramatically.

Everyone loves a freebie. There are many ways to offer a free product on your blog. Regardless of your level of technical skill you can create a free product. Here are some examples:

Podcasting is a very powerful method of communication. A podcast is more mobile plus your listeners can multi task while listening. A podcast has a more personal touch than a blog, because you can feel emotion. Not many bloggers are podcasting in addition to blogging,however, it may be a wise move to podcast.

The purpose of link baiting is generating some of the best content for others to link to. Research, write, re-write and modify your content before publishing. Develop something that your readers will cherish.
